peter w. carpi | honeymoon

Sara Ogiony Carpi and Peter Carpi were married on September 10th, 2011.
The next day we left for a two week honeymoon to Italy and Greece.

The photos below are from Peidmont, Italy, and Athens, Santorini, and Crete, Greece.

On the recommendation of our friends at Alba restaurant in Malvern, PA
we went to the town of Treiso in Peidmont, Italy. This is the Church in Treiso.

I don't know what it was, maybe grass infused vodka? It was strong.

Barolo. They make wine. Good wine.

An old guy calls down from a balcony at us, "auguri." Sara chats him up.

In addition to the hot springs, Acqui Terme has remains of a Roman aqueduct.
Sara got a great kick out of these ruins.

Fast forward to Athens and we start with Sara immediately hunting down ruins.
....And then taking pictures of birds getting it on in the ruins.

At the Temple of Olympian Zeus.

Look closely and cross your eyes and you might be able to see the Acropolis in the background.

Lets get a proper picture.

Later we climbed the Acropolis and shot back at the site we just saw.
This gives you a little perspective on these pictures at the Temple of Zeus.

That afternoon we marched up to the Acropolis. Along the way there were
two old theaters.

We both liked how the Athenian locals were able to maintain the design
while working to restore it. They didn't put in guesswork or silly things...
more on that to come.

On the way down we stopped for a seat in one of the old amphitheaters.

The new Acropolis museum is so cool. It is built over an excavation.
Unfortunately, this is where Win hit his limit and melted down like
a child in desperate need of candy and sleep.

Fast forward to Santorini....
The island is what's left of the rim of a large volcano.
The two main towns are build on top of the rim and since it is steep,
dwellings, including our hotel room, are dug into the caldera walls.

One of the best things we did in Santorini was take a sunset cruise around
the island. We got to meet a few other couples and had a blast.
